Napoleon Bonaparte, a hero for the people or a dictator? This is a question many have debated when looking back on Napoleon's life and at the end of the course, students will be encouraged to answer with their opinion about this question. To do so, we will dive into the details of Napoleon's life, his reign, and the legacy that he left behind. We examine the role he played in helping France recover from the French Revolution, and ask ourselves 'Did he cause more damage than good?'. We will also look at the Napoleonic Wars and how these wars shaped and changed Europe in the 1800s. This class is designed for students who want to have a learning space that is engaging and a place to ask questions. Students do not need to have prior knowledge as these classes will provide students with background information to allow them to engage, participate, and understand the history of this time. Students with more knowledge on these topics are also welcome to join this class, share what they know, and also learn some new information. Over the three weeks, I will be using slideshow presentations to teach the students about the key events and moments in Napoleon's life that shaped him as a leader. There will also be images, videos, discussion questions, and games of Kahoot to engage students and help solidify their knowledge of what they have learned. See below for a week-by-week breakdown of some of the topics we will be covering. Week 1: The Rise of Napoleon - Napoleon's childhood and rise to military success through the French Revolution, the Coup of 18 Brumaire Week 2: The Reign of Napoleon I - Life under Napoleon's control, changes in society, the Napoleonic Code, the Napoleonic Wars, Napoleon's first fall from power Week 3: The Fall of Napoleon I - The Hundred Days Campaign and the Battle of Waterloo, Napoleon falls from power again, Napoleon in exile and his end
