このクラスで学べること

Students will further develop their knowledge from the previous music theory courses. In this course, students will continue to advance their work in ear training and musical composition. We will also do melodic and rhythmic dictation in this course. There will be additional exercises and interactive class discussions through video messaging and classroom posting about music recordings, analysis, and composition assignments. For each of the composition assignments, students will be expected to listen and provide positive feedback to each other's listening assignments. Students will be engaged through open discussion of their listening journals that they will post in the classroom and along with class discussion topics that will be provided by the teacher. There will be some work with melodic and rhythmic dictation that students can upload in the class.

Students will continue working on ear training and developing further composition styles. It is highly recommended that students have a strong music theory background prior to enrolling.

Assignments will be due two days prior to the scheduled meeting to allow the instructor to provide timely feedback to the learner via the Outschool classroom. The assignments are designed to help reinforce the topics learned in each session. While it is recommended to purchase the textbook, the teacher will provide all the materials needed for the learners in this class. This course will use video examples, and assignment explanations, and will provide feedback.

Each lesson is a combination of lectures via PowerPoint, listening, and written discussion about the material covered in the lesson. Students will also complete melodic, harmonic, and rhythmic dictation throughout the course. The teacher will post questions in the classroom to encourage class discussion that will reflect the material that they have learned. Students will complete their ear training assignments in the form of a recording and upload them to the classroom where the instructor will provide feedback to the learner for their work. There will be melodic and rhythmic dictations where learners will interact with the instructor via video. Quizlet, Kahoot! will be used so that learners and the instructor will interact with one another.
