🎸🎼In this 8 week class I will teach the foundational concepts of music theory as it applies to guitar. 🎸🎼Traditional music theory is taught from the perspective of the piano. I will teach it from the prospective of the guitar. In these 8 classes I am choosing the most important topics to know as a guitarists. 🎸🎼COURSE BREAKDOWN🎸🎼 ⭐Week 1 - Note Names⭐ ⭐Week 2 - Reading The Treble Clef⭐ ⭐Week 3 - The Major Scale⭐ ⭐Week 4 - Triads⭐ ⭐Week 5 - Improvising⭐ ⭐Week 6 - Fretboard Mapping (Scales)⭐ ⭐Week 7 - Fretboard Mapping (Chords)⭐ ⭐Week 8 - Fretboard Mapping (Arpeggios)⭐ 🎸🎼The class will be structured to pick up where we left off the previous week. My goal is to get students to see the value in knowing music theory and to get a better understanding of the instrument. This is good for both hobbyist and serious musicians. 🎸🎼These will be lecture style classes but we will interact by applying the material to the guitar so I encourage students to have the instrument with them during the class. I will be using notation and diagrams to explain the material. All materials will be available for the students to study from between classes. 🎸🎼This class is suitable for beginner, intermediate, or advanced guitarists. Even guitar players with lots of technical skills might not have much of a background in music theory so all are welcome!

Neck Diagrams is a guitar app where I can make chord and scale diagrams for lessons.

Peter's life has been shaped by his decision to learn the guitar and pursue music. He holds a bachelor's of music in classical guitar performance from SUNY Purchase and a master's degree in film scoring from Brooklyn College. He is well versed in rock, jazz, and pop styles. In addition to his prowess on guitar, Peter is an accomplished songwriter, composer, and producer. He is featured on rock albums as guitarist and vocalist and has performed in various groups along the East Coast of the United States
Peter is passionate about helping others reach their musical goals whether it’s learning their favorite songs on the guitar, producing their own original music, becoming a better improviser, or understanding music theory. Beginner, intermediate, and advanced players are all welcome. Music producers seeking to better understand Logic, GarageBand, Pro Tools, and Ableton Live can also benefit from Peter’s expertise. He loves to share his knowledge from his own experiences and guide his students through their own unique musical journeys.
