In this interactive and engaging class, students will explore several ways to multiply numbers! We’ll look at methods beyond the traditional approach, showing that math isn’t one-size-fits-all. Each student will leave with different tools to tackle multiplication problems in ways that make sense to them. Whether they prefer breaking numbers apart or using visual strategies, they’ll find new ways to think about multiplication!

Class Outline:

1. Introduction (5 minutes)

2. Traditional Multiplication Method (10 minutes)

•	Briefly review the standard multiplication method (vertical algorithm) as a reference point.
•	Example: Multiply 23 × 4 using the traditional algorithm.
•	Let students try a similar problem.

3. Break Apart (Distributive Property) (10 minutes)

•	Explain how to break numbers apart using the distributive property.
•	Example: 23 × 4 becomes (20 × 4) + (3 × 4).
•	Show why this method can make multiplication simpler by working with easier numbers.


4. Lattice Multiplication (10 minutes)

•	Introduce the visual lattice method for multiplication.
•	Guide students through an example: Multiply 23 × 47 using a lattice grid.
•	Discuss how this method can help when multiplying larger numbers.
