This immersive and engaging Mandarin Chinese class is designed for middle school students who have some foundational knowledge of the language. Meeting once a week, this class builds on previous vocabulary and grammar concepts while placing a greater emphasis on reading, writing, and expanding conversational skills. Students will practice character writing, sentence-building, and interactive dialogues to strengthen their understanding of Mandarin Chinese. Learn to write key greeting words in characters. Week of September 8: Numbers & Age Review numbers 1-20 and expand to 100. Practice asking and answering "How old are you?" in full sentences. Introduce character writing for numbers. Week of September 15: Colors, Shapes, and Adjectives Describe objects using colors and shapes. Learn to write key color words. Practice forming simple descriptive sentences. Week of September 22: Talking About Family & Pets Expand family vocabulary and introduce possessive structures. Write short sentences about family members and pets. Week of September 29: Friends, Hobbies & Weekend Plans Expand hobby vocabulary and practice conversational phrases like "What do you like to do?" Practice writing about personal interests. --Unit 2: School, Daily Life & Practical Conversations-- Week of October 6: School Subjects & Schedule Write and talk about favorite school subjects.
