Each month and week we will be looking at a required learning area for Key Stage 1 maths in a fun, easy-to-understand way. We will look at slides I have prepared for you that explain each concept and then we will complete worksheets to show you have understood what you are learning. Don't worry if you don't 'get it' at first - let me know if you are finding something tricky as I have other ways to help you understand and it's much better for you to tell me than to worry about getting things a bit wrong (*Parents, please do let me know if your child is struggling with anything). The areas covered are outlined below: 

IMPORTANT NOTES: 
*Please note that as some aspects can be tricky for the children to grasp, concepts may be extended to the following weeks meaning the section outline below may not be strictly adhered to. I will amend dates as necessary and as we move on to different topics. 
**The course outline (below) is updated whenever we move to a new section depending on the children's requirements. You will need a solid basic understanding of English to be able to follow the lessons. 
***Please also note that for the best outcome for your child, the worksheets I provide will need to be printed out and ready for your child to use in class.

Number and Place Value 
Week commencing 27th November; numbers 1 to 20, place value, writing numbers as words; 
week commencing 4th December; partitioning, counting forwards and backwards, number lines; 
week commencing 11th December: more, less or the same, most and least, putting numbers in order; 
week commencing 18th December; counting in 2s and 10s, counting in 3s and 5s, ordering and patterns.

Addition and Subtraction
W/c 8.1.2024; number bonds to 10, number bonds to 20, numbers that add up to 100
w/c 15.1.2024; magic numbers (the power of zero), add, subtract and equals signs, partitioning, adding using a number line, adding 3 numbers,
w/c 22.1.2024; subtracting, subtracting using a number line, differences, using a number line to find the difference, adding and subtracting are opposites, missing numbers

Multiplication and Division
w/c 29.2.2024: grouping in 2s and 3s, multiplying, multiplying on a number line
w/c 05.02.2024: times tables (2s, 5s, 10s), odd and even numbers, sharing between 2 and 3
w/c 12.02.2024: dividing, dividing on a number line, 
w/c 19.02.2024: missing numbers and signs, doubling and halving
Fractions (Simple, of amounts and equivalent)
w/c 26.02.2024: fractions (halves, quarters, thirds)
