宿題:
週1時間. Students can spend as much or as little time as they have available working on the challenge each week. A quick sketch and drawing can take as little as 30 minutes. Students can easily break this task up into a few minutes each day so not to add to their stress levels, and instead give them a daily creative outlet.

Mastering Illustrated Typography - A Laid Back Weekly Challenge Flex Class

This is a flex class
-	Each week class assignments will be sent out for the student to complete on their own time.
-	There are assignment due dates and deadlines
-	There is not set date and time that you need to attend
-	There are no live classes, however, there will be plenty of interactions between the students and each other and myself.

In this course we will dive into the world of typography and hand lettering. Students can spend as much or as little time as they have available working on the challenge of the week, making it the perfect creative outlet. The challenge layout provides the perfect amount of structure and accountability that many students need to be successful in a flex class.

There are 3 class options for students to choose from:

1.	The Intro Class offers students a brief overview of typography, drawing bubble letters, and blending colors with water-based or alcohol markers. Weeks 2-4 will also have a weekly challenge word/object. This is a great choice if your student is not sure if they will like hand lettering, drawing, or the flex class format. (3 weekly lessons/ 2 weekly challenges)

2.	The Laid Back Challenge Class offers a weekly challenge word/object. Drawings are due to be turned in by Sunday at 6pm EST each week and will be added to a gallery on my webpage anonymously and stay up until the following week. Students then need to view the gallery and respond to any piece (other than their own) with at least one positive comment within the classroom. Each drawing will be randomly assigned a letter or number for identification purposes of the comments. (10 weekly lessons/challenges)

3.	The Competitive Challenge Class offers a weekly challenge word/object. Drawings are due to be turned in by Sunday at 6pm EST each week and will be added to a gallery on my webpage anonymously and stay up until the following week. Once all drawings are turned in, I will announce a random category we will be voting on such as best use of color, best font usage, most creative use of shape, most out of the box, best overall. Students then need to view the gallery and respond to any piece (other than their own) with at least one positive comment within the classroom as well as vote on the category of the week. Each drawing will be randomly assigned a letter or number for identification purposes. An e-certificate will be award to the winning student. This challenge is great for students who benefit from a need to compete and do their best work under pressure. (10 weekly lessons/challenges)

Other then the additional voting aspect the two challenges will be identical content. I am happy to transfer students between the different challenges if they are unsure which is the right fit for them.

What to expect Weeks 1-10:

Class will be taught with a combination of slides and recorded demonstration video, drawing and instruction step-outs.
-Each week I will post the Challenge of the Week in the classroom.
-I will upload a video of myself demonstrating the drawing of the objects rough outline.
-I will show step by step tutorial of my process for the weeks object/word.
-When applicable I will give color, font, and format tips and tricks.
-I will also provide handouts some weeks if I feel they would be helpful to the students.

To ensure it's truly a challenge course students will not get to know what object/word will be prior to the challenge being issued.

Sample Week 1:
An example of a weekly challenge would be the word/object : Cupcake. Students will watch the lesson posted to the classroom on how to draw a cupcake step by step. Students are then challenged to add the word within the shape of the object they just drew. A slideshow presentation will be provided teaching a color blending. A handout with things to consider will be provided for student brainstorming and planning.

Each week will be the same format with a new word/object challenge.

Supply List:
- Some type of paper
- Pencil and eraser
- A variety of markers
- Any other art supplies the student wishes to experiment with
- Ability to take a photo or scan their artwork

学習到達目標

Students will learn to draw the basic shape of 10 objects within the challenge. They will gain better understanding of balance, color and scale within art.

About Me:

Art and Creativity are what get me through the day. The joy that creating provides is something that should be shared and explored by all!

Studio CIA provides Creativity, Imagination and Art Classes for School Aged Kids. I have a passion for keeping kids creative, happy and healthy through the arts. You will not find any paint this color here or make your picture look like this in our classes. Instead, I encourage and empower kids to use their own unique style and imagination to create their masterpiece. Kids thrive in this type of environment as all other school subjects and much of life is about doing things in just such a way, leaving little opportunity for self-connection or self-expression. At Studio CIA Kids embrace their inner artist through imaginative exploration.

I have been teaching in one aspect or another all my life, from helping in Sunday School classrooms as a teen to teaching my own classrooms at 18. I was a lead teacher for a Preschool prior to having my own family. Once I had children, I was organizing local families into craft clubs and field trips. It was only natural that we chose to homeschool. When I struggled to find a curriculum that would work well with my very hands-on son and my visual daughter, I set out to create my own. This curriculum is still on the market 18 years later and being used in homeschools and classrooms across the world.

I believe all learning styles can be taught in the same space in most cases and you will find that 99% of my classes are project based for that reason. Putting the learning into the hands of the students helps retention and instills a love of learning. I teach for enjoyment and want my students also enjoying the learning process, you will not find me teaching to a test or requesting memorization of facts. I will find fun and creative ways to get kids learning without them even realizing it most of them time. Some may call it arts and crafts, but I guarantee you your students will love it and they will learn and more importantly retain the information being taught.

With 20 years of experience teaching my own children at home I am well versed in a multitude of subjects and ages but my passions lie with the Preschool – Elementary age groups and in the arts and sciences and now i share that passion and creativity with anyone willing to listen.

I’ve been focused on teaching within the arts and life skills categories within my local homeschool community and am super excited to bring these classes to Outschool. I have seen so many students show growth and development in the 5-7 years they have been taking my class and can’t wait to share that with your students as well.

I have always felt that art was important. I did not always know how to put it into words necessarily, but I realized early on that it always left me in a better mood than when I started. With our current “social distance” orders, my views on the need for a creative outlet have gone from thinking they are important to knowing they are ESSENTIAL. We need to create our own happiness and when at all possible share that joy with others.

While we are all struggling to process our thoughts and fears, our kids are also struggling to put into words what they are feeling. ART CAN HELP. It can become a way to slowly work through thoughts and feelings. Sometimes a feeling is easier expressed in color or shape than in words. And art does not always have to be in the form of a painting or drawing, but a visual representation of what they’re learning. Check out my class listings to see how many different ways arts and crafts can really be learning.
