Students will openly discuss DC and Marvel comics, shows, and movies. Certain DC characters have influenced Marvel characters and vice versa. Their big screen productions differ greatly from each other, and there are many debates about which on screen presence is better. Comics are a text to be analyzed just as much as novels; I have learned that a "text" involves more than just novels and can include films, video games, books, pictures, and more. Using costumed (or sometimes un-costumed) characters, readers can engage in thorough discussions.
