It's way more interesting, if you ask me, because economist seek to understand and explain the behavior of people as individuals and groups as they seek to meet their needs and satisfy their wants. Learners will be able to understand real-world economic principles and how decisions impact the world.
My experience includes teaching high school and college social studies in both brick and mortar classrooms and online (see my other courses on Outschool in my profile.) While I do not image that we will broach any sensitive topics, I do have classroom training and experience navigating difficult topics.
This class is focused on understanding basic and intermediate economic concepts and policy. In the off chance our conversation drifts into a political, philosophical, or ethical space our space will be a safe and welcoming environment for all viewpoints, perspective and points of view. Learners should come prepared to share, listen to and engage with each other.
We will use government websites as well as major news sources such as The New York Times, The Washington Post and National Public Radio, etc. Other sources will be shared by learners. Be aware that we are always seeking high quality sources.
