In this fun and exciting course, learners will get to explore a new STEM concept every 2 weeks. This will allow students to be able to read the books before coming to class. We will discuss together what happened in the story, what the characters learned, and our own favorite parts. Learners will be expected to read the book before coming to class. These books are a favorite of mine and past students and are a great way to jump into reading chapter books. The goal of this class is to learn new concepts and instill the joy of reading to young learners. - The Truth about Bats - The Search for the Missing Bones - The Wild Whale Watch - Space Explores - Twisted Trouble - The Giant Germ - The Great Shark Escape - Penguin Puzzle Learners will be required to purchase the book or loan it from the library to be able to read in advance. With each book students will have activities that will go along with each books. Students will be able to to do these activities while reading the book. We will discuss during our meeting. These activities include ~Reading Response Journal Cover ~Comprehension Questions (with lines) ~True or False? ~ Vocabulary Cards with Definitions ~ Vocabulary Practice ~ Vocabulary Match-Up ~ Book Quiz ~ Meet the Kids ~ Pause and Predict ~ K-W-L Chart *Students will also receive video recordings of me going over and teaching each of the activities so they know what to do

Depending on your child's reading pace will determine how much time outside of class is required. The only work that needs to be completed outside of class is to read the book of the week which can be found in the description. Your child will need a copy of the book to take the class. This can be an e-book, own physical copy, or library owned physical copy.
