Class Description for One-on-One Tutoring Sessions:

Embark on a personalized literacy journey with our one-on-one tutoring sessions, thoughtfully designed to ignite a passion for reading and writing in young learners. Over the course of 40 weeks, we will tailor a comprehensive curriculum to your child's unique needs, building foundational skills, advancing to complex literacy concepts, and fostering a profound appreciation for the literary world. Each session is a new adventure, exploring everything from phonemic awareness and phonics to advanced comprehension strategies and creative writing, all at a pace that ensures your child feels confident and engaged.

Tutoring Experience:

Our tutoring sessions are structured to offer a dynamic and interactive learning experience, adapting to your child's learning style and pace. Here's what you can expect:

Weeks 1-8: We begin with phonemic awareness, phonics, and the basics of reading. Your child will learn about sounds, letters, and simple word formations through tailored activities and games.

Weeks 8-16: Building on foundational skills, we explore complex phonics patterns, syllable types, and early spelling strategies through targeted exercises.

Weeks 16-24: We concentrate on fluency and vocabulary development, using a variety of texts to broaden linguistic horizons.

Weeks 24-32: The focus shifts to advanced decoding strategies and understanding the intricacies of language, including silent letters and soft sounds.

Weeks 32-40: We introduce comprehension strategies, narrative structures, and creative writing exercises, encouraging your child to express their ideas with clarity and creativity.

Our approach is interactive and student-centered, emphasizing hands-on activities, personalized discussions, and practice sessions. Utilizing multimedia presentations, storytelling, phonics games, and writing workshops, we cater to your child's unique way of learning.

Interaction and Feedback:

Your child will receive individual attention and feedback, making each session an opportunity for significant progress. While the one-on-one format focuses on direct interaction between the tutor and the student, we encourage sharing achievements and milestones with family to celebrate progress together.

Class Evaluation and Policies:

Homework Policy: Informal homework assignments, such as independent reading and writing activities, will be suggested to reinforce learned skills. Students are encouraged to share their outside work for feedback and further personalized guidance.

Assessment Policy: Formal assessments will not be a part of our sessions. Instead, progress will be monitored through discussions and feedback during the sessions. A focus on continuous improvement will guide our journey, with students encouraged to reflect on their learning and achievements.

Grading Policy: In alignment with our focus on learning and growth, we do not assign letter grades. Upon completing the tutoring program, your child will receive a certificate of completion to celebrate their hard work and dedication to literacy.

Our overarching aim is to create a nurturing, stress-free learning environment that encourages curiosity, exploration, and a genuine love for literacy. By concentrating on individual progress and the joy of learning, we aim to equip your child with the literacy skills necessary for lifelong success.

学習到達目標

In our one-on-one structured literacy tutoring sessions, your child will embark on a personalized learning journey designed to systematically build their reading and writing skills from the ground up. The curriculum is tailored to meet your child's unique needs, with specific learning goals aimed at ensuring they not only understand fundamental literacy concepts but also apply them confidently in everyday contexts. Here's what your child will learn:

Phonemic Awareness: Your child will learn to recognize and manipulate the sounds in words, including skills such as sound isolation, blending, segmenting, and phoneme manipulation (adding, deleting, or substituting sounds).

Phonics and Decoding: They will gain a strong foundation in phonics, understanding the relationship between letters and sounds, and master decoding skills to fluently read unfamiliar words by breaking them down into manageable parts.

Fluency: Your child will develop reading fluency, focusing on pace, accuracy, and expression. Activities will include repeated reading and modeled fluent reading, emphasizing the role of punctuation in expressive reading.

Vocabulary Development: We will expand your child's vocabulary through direct teaching of new words, exploration of synonyms and antonyms, and the use of context clues within texts. They will be encouraged to use a creative and varied vocabulary in their writing and speaking.

Reading Comprehension: Your child will learn strategies to understand, interpret, analyze, and reflect on texts, including summarizing, questioning, predicting, inferring, and identifying main ideas and supporting details.

Writing Skills: They will develop their writing skills, from crafting simple sentences to composing more complex texts. We'll explore narrative, expository, and creative writing, covering the writing process from brainstorming to editing.

Spelling and Grammar: Through focused instruction, your child will improve their spelling accuracy, learning about spelling rules, patterns (including blends, digraphs, and trigraphs), silent letters, and tricky spellings. Basic grammar concepts will also be covered to enhance writing quality.

Literary Appreciation: Exposure to a wide range of genres and texts will foster an appreciation for literature’s diverse forms, themes, and styles.

Critical Thinking and Analysis: Encouragement to think critically about texts will enhance their ability to analyze characters, plot, themes, and authors' purposes. They'll learn to support their opinions with evidence from the text.

Personalized Communication Skills: Though the one-on-one format focuses more on individual learning, we'll incorporate elements that foster communication skills, encouraging your child to express their ideas and responses effectively.

By achieving these goals, your child will be equipped with the essential literacy skills needed for academic success and lifelong learning. They will emerge from our sessions as a more confident reader and writer, ready to explore the vast world of literature and express their thoughts and ideas with clarity and creativity.
