Welcome all crazy chicken people! Whether you own chickens, want chickens, or just love chickens, this class is for you! Come join us weekly to discuss several different topics pertaining to our funny feathery friends. The students will participate in informative chicken discussions, via an interactive presentation, that focus around a weekly theme. The presentation will provide students with vivid imagery, polls, opportunity for discussion, open-ended questions, and interesting chicken videos. Learners will develop a better understanding of chickens, their behavior, how to care for them, how they became pets in the first place, and many other interesting topics. I will provide reliable sources of information for students to view at their own pleasure after class (if they'd like)! Students are more than welcome to bring their chickens. Depending on the topic, I will save time at the end of each lesson for students to introduce their chicken, pictures, or to share any fun chicken stories. No previous knowledge required! Join whenever you want! Weekly topics may include: May 1 Week 1 - Types of Chickens Common chicken breeds, rare chicken breeds, and chickens in the wild May 8 Week 2 - Unique Chicken Anatomy and Physiology ears, eyes, beak, spurs, waddle, comb, chicken senses May 15 Week 3 -Chicks Broodiness, behavior, development, care May 22 Week 4 - How to Train your Chicken Positive reinforcement, treats, how to introduce chickens, how to introduce other animals May 29 Week 5 -How to Care for your Chicken Choosing a chicken, feeding, coop, bedding, supplies, seasonal needs June 5 Week 6 - Chicken Toys and Entertainment Types of toys, toys you can easily make June 12 Week 7 - Eggs! Collecting, eating, selling, bacteria (bloom), how eggs form June 19 Week 8 - Fun Chicken Facts Famous chickens in cartoons, movies, comics, books, chicken fun facts June 26 Week 9 -Chicken Health and Common Problems Discussions include: Common health issues, parasites and preventatives, first-aid kit, dangers July 3 Week 10 - Why Does My Chicken Do That? Chicken Behavior Chicken communication, pecking order, behavior issues, habits and instincts July 10 Week 11 -History of Chickens The first domestic chicken, origin, ancestral characteristics in chickens today

I am offering this course because I have owned chickens my entire life and have so much experience. They are one of my favorite animals. I have 9 chickens as of right now. I have raised chicks and cared for broody hens with their own chicks! I enjoy talking about chickens and learning as much as I can about my feathery friends! I am also a biology teacher and have volunteered at an animal shelter and veterinary office. I also believe owning chickens sometimes means finding solutions on your own, and I would love to share my own experiences and knowledge so others can take the best care of their chickens possible! レビュー
