Learners will improve their reading, interpretation, and analysis skills by doing a close reading of Les Miserables by Victor Hugo.
I am a licensed teacher with a certification in middle school English/ language arts. Through my art education certification and teaching experience, I have had training and teaching experience in art analysis and criticism, which requires many of the same skills, thought processes and techniques as analyzing literature does. I also have over a decade of experience in tutoring middle school, high school, and college-level students in reading, analyzing, responding to, and criticizing a wide variety of world literature. I’ve worked with hundreds of students who were struggling and used a variety of strategies to help them become more confident in their reading and writing skills. In addition, for the past few years I have also coached and mentored a team of approximately 30 tutors to also guide them in helping their students also become more competent readers and thinkers.

In the classroom setting, any material would be handled with sensitivity and empathy. As needed, we will discuss as a class what these discussions should look and sound like to establish expectations.

I am a current art teacher and I am interested in how technology and art can be combined to create new artwork. I teach classes using traditional media like paint and colored pencil, but I've also taught young learners how to use clay, cameras,...
