このクラスで学べること

Watercolor can be a very intimidating medium for those who are inexperienced or have simply had bad teachers. When it comes to landscapes it can be especially scary if you have to add small details like flowers, or if you want to add something like big, fluffy clouds.
In this class students will follow along with me each week as we learn how to break down a landscape into simple steps. This class will help students become comfortable using a paintbrush as well as using watercolor paints. This class is great for beginners as well as more experienced watercolorists as we will cover basic, foundational watercolor techniques such as such as wet on wet, wet on dry, and dry on dry as well as more advanced applications of these techniques. Students will learn not only how to paint with watercolor, but also why we may use one technique or a certain color over another. They will also learn how to create different effects with paint splatter.
By the end of class each student should have a fully finished piece.*

Classes will loop when complete, however, I’m always open to take requests.

*Everyone paints at their own pace, so I will remain 15 minutes after each class to help any students that fall behind.
I will be using Arches 100% cotton, 140lb cold pressed watercolor paper. While you don’t need this specific brand I would recommend using paper that has the same qualities since cheap or non watercolor paper can cause problems and lead to frustration. Strathmore is a fairly decent alternative brand that costs $12 for a 9x12 pad at Hobby Lobby. (Cheaper if you use a coupon.)

Hi, I’m Annika and I love all things arts and crafts related. I teach watercolor and acrylic classes. In both of these I will teach your children different ways to hold a paintbrush in order to achieve various effects. We will also learn different ways of shading and blending as well as how to use a reference photo to achieve the desired affect.
I have had multiple art teachers over the years who have all come from different countries and backgrounds. Each one has taught me something different that has helped me become a better artist, and I look forward to sharing what they have taught me with the next generation of artists.
I believe art should be fun and exciting and with as few boundaries as possible. This means using materials considered “unconventional,” such as glitter, rhinestones, sequins, and anything else that inspires you. When it comes to art there is no limit to what you can accomplish.
