Do you consider yourself a good friend? Do you know how to make new friends? How do you communicate with your friends when you are upset? While making new friends and maintaining friendships can be intimidating and scary at times, this course will give you the confidence and skills to make new friends while learning what qualities make a good friend. In this class, we will begin by first discussing what it means to be a friend. Students will be given the opportunity to discuss what being a friend means to them. We will go over the characteristics and traits of what makes a good friend. As a class, we will complete a worksheet together. We will then look at different conflict scenarios that kids sometimes face with their peer groups and friends. We will explore how to navigate these situations while being a good friend. In this course, I will use a combination of live instruction, discussion, screen sharing, and worksheets to deliver my course in a practical and engaging way. If we have enough time, we will also talk about how friendships may have changed since the start of the Pandemic, and students will get the chance to discuss how these changes may have or have not affected their friendships. We will wrap up the class with students vocalizing what friendship trait is the most important to them, so they know not only how to be a good friend, but also what they what to find in a good friend. This will be a fun and interactive course in which students will get the chance to socialize with others while practicing their new friend-making skills! I can’t wait to meet my new friends!
学習到達目標
One of the biggest areas in which primary-aged children experience conflicts is with their peer group and friends. It is often very difficult to understand and process at that age. We will explore this in a lighthearted, and engaging way allowing children to retain the information, and strive to be a good friend.

While I aim to keep the course lighthearted and fun, whenever friendships are being discussed, it may bring out emotions in younger students, particulary iwhen thinking about lost friendship or former friends(moved away, new schools, etc.) I will always notify a parent a student is becoming emotional over a topic, and we can work together to find a solution.
受講に必要なもの
