宿題:
週あたり 1-2 時間. It is anticipated that learners will need to finish off some of their pieces of artwork on completion of each lesson. The time will vary depending on the level of detail decided by each learner (and whether they decide to transform their pencil sketches into completed coloured sketches).
テスト
Verbal praise and positive, general suggestions/guidance for improvement will be offered during each lesson. Students are welcome to request private informal feedback at any time.

このクラスで学べること

This 5-week course will introduce learners to the concept of perspective drawing and develop their ability to observe and analyse everyday shapes all around them. Doing so, it will help them to ‘see’ objects from different angles and viewpoints. This course also aims to develop key vocabulary, core drawing skills, and effective use of drawing equipment such as T-Squares, rulers, set squares and dividers. Each lesson will build on prior learning and is designed to be progressive, allowing each student to adapt the level of detail or difficulty by following along with guided practice or creating their own interpretation, according to their current abilities. Each lesson is designed to be inclusive and accessible to all learners.
In lessons, students will be taught and guided through the concepts and techniques using live demonstrations and modelling, however, due to time constraints, they will need to allow extra time to finish off pieces after class. Students will have the opportunity to share their work-in-progress with others at various times throughout class (optional) and post finished pieces to the classroom.

Throughout the 5-week course, students will be provided with informative handouts and a range of optional or differentiated templates to support their development (should they wish to use them). We will be using royalty-free reference images (available to print out before each weekly class) as well as slide presentations and practical demonstrations using an overhead camera for easier viewing of techniques. Each lesson is designed to be inclusive and accessible to all learners.

**If you do not see a day and time that works for you - please feel free to make a schedule request. **

Lesson 1: Exploring the basics
•The vocabulary (e.g. horizon line, vanishing point, orthogonal lines, parallel, perpendicular, intersect, one-point perspective, two-point perspective, form, depth, scale) etc…
•Use equipment to draw lines and create basic shapes
•Observe and discuss the ‘eyeline’ of the viewer. How does this influence what can be seen?

Lesson 2: Applying techniques
•Create a simple scene in one-point perspective using basic forms or shapes
•Use a horizon line, vanishing point and orthogonal lines in light pencil to ‘map out ' a scene
•Apply techniques from the previous lesson to create basic structures (buildings, doors, windows) etc…
•Discuss, share reflect on techniques and drawing process

Lesson 3: Creating an interior room or scene of your own!
•Design a room layout by choosing your own dimensions (Will it be a long skinny room? Or wider and more of a cube shape? Learners decide on their own perspective by working out the position of the walls/furniture in relation to the horizon line and vanishing point
•Apply concepts taught in previous lessons and understanding of basic shape building to draw furniture items and everyday objects
•What will you be able to see on a shelf or top of a wardrobe if it is above or below the horizon line? Are objects relative in size to each other?
•Students can create a fantasy room – get crazy with it.

Lesson 4: Designing a name or word in 3D
•Explore examples of 3D word art for inspiration
•Observe/Annotate partially completed examples (printed out in advance from provided handouts) to practically work out the perspective and imaginary lines, with a ruler. (Students can either have a go at completing the missing section for practice purposes or move on to designing their own perspective 3D art
•Create letters in chosen perspective (one-point or two-point perspective depending on skill level/confidence)

Lesson 5: Drawing an outdoor scene
•Apply all the skills studies so far to create a completed outdoor scene of choice after comparing sample pieces for reference
•Create a sketch with buildings and add a sidewalk (path) that follows along to the vanishing point
•Add extra details like trees, and windows as students feel comfortable doing so.
•For an extra challenge: aim to include other landscape features or structures (signposts, street lights, fencing etc..)
•Finish the piece with colour or black line art (if desired) using your preferred medium (coloured pencils, markers, crayons, paint) etc…
•Showcase your work in class or post it in the classroom
•Reflect and review personal growth and progress as a class
学習到達目標
Students will develop the technical vocabulary associated with perspective drawing.
Students will learn the basics of form and shape to improve their freehand drawing skills.
Students will learn to visualise and identify perspective in studied examples, annotating examples of their own.
Students will become more competent and confident using a range of drawing equipment.
Students will be able to reflect upon, and evaluate their own sketches, offering suggestions for improvement.

Hi and welcome! My name is Paula, aka: 'The Tutorly Owl' and I'm really pleased you've stopped by.

I’m a qualified UK Primary School Teacher of nearly twenty years, and I teach a broad range of subjects. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Primary Education, with an English Specialism and graduated with First Class Honours from the University of Warwick. In 2021, I also completed a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) course am I am now a certified ESL teacher. I’m a great believer in lifelong learning so I’m always looking for my next personal challenge!

With a true passion for teaching and learning, I’m really excited to bring my enthusiasm, favourite lessons and personal teaching style to the Outschool platform.

So what are my absolute favourites?

Well, in a nutshell, anything that involves drawing on my creativity!
* Writing: stories, poetry, play scripts, posters, presentations or anything else imaginative!
* Arts and Crafts: card-making, 3D papercraft projects, drawing, painting, working with clay

I believe that learning should be student-focused, interactive and above all fun. I aim to tailor my lessons to my students’ needs, adapting the content and approach for the best possible outcomes. I am always open and willing to listen to, and respond to lesson requests. In fact, students are the best source of inspiration and are full of amazing ideas. If you have something in mind, let me know, and I will try to work my magic and create it for you.

You might have already guessed it, but I absolutely love owls! They’re probably going to make a sneaky appearance in some classes, so watch out for them! My mum loves owls too! As part of my small little business, I designed and made my own owl clocks range – so cute!

When I’m not teaching, I like to relax and enjoy time with my family. I often spend whole days working with my sister on new craft techniques and ideas. I can get extremely messy!

Thank you for taking the time to visit my page today! I hope to see your learner in the classroom.

Best wishes,
Paula (The Tutorly Owl)
