In this interactive class, games and education merge seamlessly, offering an immersive and enjoyable path to Spanish language proficiency. Designed to accommodate learners of all levels, this game-based approach provides an exciting introduction to Spanish for beginners and a dynamic review opportunity for those with previous experience.

At the start of each class, we dedicate a few minutes to review the 10 words for the day's topic, ensuring students are well-prepared for the game. Clear instructions will then be provided on how to join and play the game. The teacher will guide students through the game, ensuring a smooth experience and a lively atmosphere. The teacher will only join the game if necessary to meet the minimum player requirement for some games. Students will play 1 or 2 rounds of the pre-selected game and then have the choice of other games for the remainder of the class time.

Students may use the same device they are logged into via Zoom or a separate device such as a tablet or computer. They just need access to an internet browser to sign into the game and start playing. There's no need to install or download anything, and no additional website login is required.

Each week introduces new vocabulary and a new topic throughout the year. After each class, gaming assignments are posted to provide continued practice outside of class.

About Each Game:

BlastBall: Teams earn blasts by choosing the correct English translation for Spanish words to score goals. The team with the highest score wins.

Don't Look Down: Students climb an obstacle course by selecting the correct English translation for Spanish words to gain energy. The first to reach the top wins.

Snowbrawl: Players earn snowballs by choosing the correct translations and use them to knock others out. The player or team with the most knockouts wins.

The Floor is Lava: Students work together to stay above rising lava by selecting translations to earn cash for building. The game ends when the lava reaches the top.

Tag Domination: Teams tag each other for points, gaining energy through correct translations. The team with the most tags wins.

Trust No One: Similar to "Among Us," players identify impostors by choosing correct translations to earn power. Crewmates win by identifying impostors, while impostors win by blending in.

Knockback: Players earn energy by selecting correct translations to knock others off the screen. The player or team with the most knockouts wins.

Capture the Flag: Teams compete to capture flags and protect their own by choosing correct translations to gain energy for movement and upgrades. The team with the most captures wins.

Dig It Up: Students earn energy through correct translations to dig for resources and save the mayor. The first to reach the mayor or the highest when time runs out wins.

The curriculum creator of Aspire Learning Academy's Spanish classes possesses full bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish, as well as extensive experience as a language learner and instructor. Having started learning Spanish in high school and continuing her studies at the university level, she has built a solid foundation in reading fluency and spoken proficiency. Over the past 20+ years, she has immersed herself in the Spanish language and culture, achieving a level of fluency that allows her to read and speak Spanish without an English accent, showcasing her dedication and commitment to mastering the language.

With her firsthand experience as a non-native Spanish speaker, our curriculum creator understands the challenges and complexities that English speakers encounter when learning Spanish, enabling her to weave in explanations of concepts effectively to English-speaking learners. Leveraging insights from her own language learning journey, she offers valuable strategies to help students overcome obstacles and reach their language goals.

Since 2020, our curriculum creator has been teaching Spanish classes virtually, witnessing significant growth in her students' language abilities. Many started with minimal Spanish knowledge and, by the end of the school year, gained confidence in reading and engaging in basic conversations in Spanish. All of the other Spanish teachers at Aspire Learning Academy are native Spanish speakers, bringing an extra component to the classes that parents and students can trust that they are learning accurate language skills.
