In this ongoing course, we will learn and practice 5th grade ELA skills. We will meet weekly and discuss topics that are covered in a first grade classroom. This will be done using power point, paper, pencil, provided worksheet, and classroom discussion. Students will get the opportunity to work as a group as well as independently. I can't wait to see your child in my class! Week of August 14th: Compare and contrast two or more characters, settings, or events in a story Week of August 22nd; Metaphors and similes Week of August 29th: Making inferences Week of September 5th:Exploring Genres Week of September 12th: Exploring Genres Week of September 19th: Sequencing Week of September 26th: Context Clues Week of October 3rd: Figurative Language-Idioms, review of metaphors and similes Week of October 10th: Capitalization and Commas Week of October 17th: Simple, Compound, and Complex Sentences Week of October 24th: Subject and Predicate Week of October 31st: Pronouns

Hello! My name is Amy Morales. I teach English, math, and writing, as well as some other courses. I taught in the Elementary school setting for 8 years. I was an online ESL teacher for two years.
