週1時間. Weekly Worksheet Packet A weekly at-home packet will be provided to help learners reinforce the skills they practice in class. The packet is posted on the classroom page every Sunday at 6:00 AM Pacific Time. These materials are optional and meant to enhance your learner's experience, not as a mandatory homework requirement. I encourage parents to decide how much time their learner dedicates to these activities based on their schedule. However, my top priorities are: * Learners mastering their Top 18 Words. * Recognizing and reading the 6 sight words by the end of each week. For many learners, achieving these goals may require a little extra practice outside of class. Since sight words cannot be sounded out, they must be memorized by sight, making regular review essential. Sight words are the fastest way to build your child’s reading vocabulary. If you can only focus on one thing from the packet, I recommend prioritizing the sight word activities to see the greatest impact.
テスト
Learners will be assessed throughout the classes. The teacher will email individualized feedback to learners as needed.

Overview
In this ongoing 3-day-a-week class (Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday), children will build confidence as emerging readers while making friends in a cheerful and engaging environment. This class is designed for learners who know their alphabet and phonetic sounds at a minimum. Some learners may already read simple words or sentences, such as "The cat can sit," and are ready to strengthen their foundational reading skills. Whether your child is just beginning to blend words or is looking to solidify their early reading abilities, this class provides a supportive environment tailored to meet each learner’s unique needs.

What to Expect
Every class is thoughtfully structured to ensure learners make steady progress while having fun. A typical session includes:

*Class Greeting: Welcoming students to create a warm and inclusive atmosphere.

*Daily Agenda: Reviewing the day’s activities to build predictability and structure.

*Top 18 Words: Introducing and practicing, by spelling and reading, the 18 most commonly used words in the English language, which form a foundation for early reading and fluency.

*Sight Words: Learning six new words weekly through spelling, writing, reading, and sentence-building activities.

*Phonics Practice: Rotating through alphabet sounds, digraphs, blends, and other essential phonics skills.

*CVC Words: Practicing consonant-vowel-consonant word families for blending and fluency.

*Themed Lessons: Exploring fun and engaging themes like "Puppy Week" to spark curiosity and make learning enjoyable.

*Storytime: Reading short stories together to build fluency and comprehension skills.

*Comprehension Activities: Answering questions and discussing themes related to the story.

*Interactive Online Games: Introducing customized weekly games that align with our class focus. These engaging games provide extra
practice outside of class and reinforce key skills.

*Show and Tell: Encouraging learners to share favorite toys, stories, or experiences to build social connections while developing descriptive vocabulary and fostering confidence in public speaking.

-------------------
Optional Worksheet Packet

A weekly worksheet packet will be provided for extra practice outside of class. These packets are optional but highly beneficial for reinforcing the skills and concepts taught in class. Parents can decide how much time their learner dedicates to these activities based on their schedule and preferences.

Placement Advice

This class is designed for transitional kindergarten (TK) to late first-grade learners, as well as older children who are struggling to learn to read and need help with foundational skills. If your child can read 90% of this paragraph independently:

The kids like to play.
They play in the park.
They go down the slide and swing on the swings.

Then this class may not be the best fit. Instead, consider enrolling in my more advanced class: Learn to Read with Phonics, Sight Words, and Friends! 1st & 2nd Grade: https://outschool.com/classes/learn-to-read-wphonics-sight-words-and-friends-lev-2-1st-3rd-english-reading-u4clC0gH

-----------------
Why Choose This Class?

*Personalized Attention: Every learner participates in reading and activities, ensuring individual progress. Don't worry if your learner is a little shy. They will be gently encouraged to participate when they are ready.

*Confidence-Building Curriculum: Structured lessons help learners know what to expect, reducing anxiety and fostering success.

*Flexible Teaching Style: I adapt to each learner’s reading level, providing the right amount of challenge.

*Warm and Engaging Atmosphere: I build relationships with my students by remembering their interests and encouraging them to share in class.

----------------------
Additional Notes

This is an ongoing class, meaning learners can join at any time and progress at their own pace. You do not need to worry about your learner being behind when entering the class, as I tailor the lessons to meet each student’s current skill level and help them grow from there. Each learner’s journey is unique, so comparisons between students are unnecessary—progress is individualized and celebrated!
