In this Learn to Read with UFLI Level 1 class, your child will first be assessed to determine a starting level of instruction. I will conduct a phonics assessment during a 1:1 live class meeting where I can get to know your child and determine a starting level of instruction. Students will learn basic phonemic awareness skills such as identifying and manipulating the sounds in words and progress to developing phonics skills by making connections of the sounds to letters in words. They will use these skills to develop blending and decoding skills that lead them to be a fluent reader that is proficient in reading grade appropriate material with a mastery of understanding what they read (comprehension) which is the ultimate goal of learning to read.
I am a licensed Elementary teacher with 15 years of classroom experience. I have taught 1st grade, 2nd grade and Title I (remediation for struggling learners in grades K-5). I have tutored struggling readers for 10 years. I have completed a 30-hour online training class and received my certification from the Orton Gillingham Basic Language Course.

Weekly assessments will be given to monitor student mastery of skills and to plan for future instruction. These will be incorporated into the lessons/class. These will include reading of 2-3 words that align with the concept of the lesson as well as the dictation of a sentence that includes the spelling of words/patterns from the lesson.成績が提供されます
This class is designed with all learner types in mind. Students with Dyslexia and ADHD will have ample multi-sensory activities Skills will be taught in a systematic and explicit way ensuring all leaners have the opportunity to succeed.
