This ongoing class is designed for learners that want to learn to read. Learners must know most of the letters and letter sounds. This class focuses on letters and letter sounds to build words. Instruction is based off of word families. Learners will learn the word family first (-at, -en, -it, on, -ut, etc.) and then practice adding beginning letters to form words. Learners will also learn simple sight words to help develop sentences. Each week, learners will be provided with a worksheet to practice writing the words. This sheet can be turned into a book to practice words at home. During class, we will play games to help reinforce the skills! We focus on a different word family each week. The weeks are stand alone lessons so learners can join at any time! Sample Weekly Breakdown Week of June 11: -ed words Week of June 18: -ad words Week of June 25- NO CLASSES Week of July 2: -ig words Week of July 9: -id words Week of July 16: -at words Week of July 23: -an words Week of July 30: -ap words Week of August 6: -en words Week of August 13: -us words Week of August 20: -ab words Week of August 27: -it words Week of September 3: -ot words Week of September 10: -og words Week of September 17: -ut words Week of September 24: -un words Week of October 1: -ug words Week of October 8: -ob words Week of October 15: -op words Week of October 22: -ab words Week of October 29: -im words Week of November 5: -am words Week of November 12: -on & om words Week of November 19: -in words Week of November 26: No classes Week of December 3: -et words Week of December 10: -ag words Week of December 17: -ip words Week of December 24: No classes Week of December 31: No classes This class is inclusive, so learners of all abilities are welcome to join! Hello families! My name Heidi and I love learning. I have a passion to help and guide others to find joy in learning. With over 17 years teaching experience at all levels (Prek-12), my goal for every class is to bring the fun from the classroom to your learner's device!
With over 5 years of online teaching experience, I enjoy finding new ways to make virtual learning fun! I offer a variety of educational classes for learners ages 3-12. In each class, learners will have the opportunity to learn, apply, and expand learning during class. All of my classes are open to learners of all abilities.
