Learning to read should be fun, engaging, and multi-sensory. This course is meant for early readers or struggling readers. For on grade-level first and second graders see Phonics and Spelling class. In this ongoing course, students will build a foundation for reading based on weekly targeted sounds. 1. For several years, Miss Raz was a reading specialist at a Title 1 public school. As a Title 1 reading specialist, Miss Raz used Orton-Gillingham techniques to teach students who were reading below grade level. Orton-Gillingham is a multi-sensory, hands-on approach to teaching phonics.
