¡Feliz Otoño! Happy Fall! What will be taught? In this one-time Spanish/Autumn-Fall session, students will have the opportunity to listen, read, speak and write in Spanish + draw and paint Autumn leaves. What topics will be covered? 5 Spanish vocabulary words associated with Autumn and our leaf picture Spanish greetings, colors, numbers, question words Step-by-step drawing/painting of Fall leaves. Materials needed are listed below in the Supply List. Class structure: -Greeting one another (language: Spanish) 2 min. -Learn 5 Spanish vocabulary words, presented on a slideshow (language: Spanish) 3 min. -Reading a passage that incorporates the 5 Spanish vocabulary words (language: Spanish) 7 min. -Simple questions from the reading (language: Spanish) 3 min. -Drawing/painting our Fall leaf picture. Students are free to talk with one another during our drawing time. (language: English with some Spanish) 15 min. -Share your picture with the group, if you would like (language: English) 5 min. How will I teach? I teach Spanish using the method of Comprehensive Input. "Comprehensible input is language input (speech or text) in a target language that learners can understand even if they don’t grasp everything (every word or grammatical feature). It is crucial for language acquisition as it helps learners acquire languages naturally rather than through conscious learning." For the drawing, I turn my camera to face my drawing so that students will be able to see the page as we draw step-by-step. What is my teaching style? My classes are inclusive and allow learners to ask questions, cultivate discussions, and share experiences with each other to learn together and of course, have fun. My teaching style is energetic, interactive, engaging, and always supportive. How much will learners get to interact with me? Throughout the entire class, learners can interact with me. Teacher will let learners know if they need to mute during learning. My learning environment is a kind space for learners to learn from and grow with one another. My name is Mrs. Brown, and I am so excited to meet your student!
I have a M.A.T. Master of Arts in teaching (grades P-12) degree with an emphasis in Spanish and a Bachelors of Art in Spanish with a minor in Latin American Studies. I am also a certified TEFL teacher.
Over the past 18 years I have taught students of all ages- preschool, primary, elementary, middle and high school. I even received a teaching scholarship to teach English to students in Spain for 3 years.✏️📓
I have taught in a variety of school settings- public, private, extra classes, camps, substituting, volunteering, homeschooling and online.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and teaching my children Spanish, reading, listening to Taylor Swift’s music, and being outdoors in the sunshine.🎵☀️
