In 4 sessions, we will do short mini lessons utilizing the Wilson Reading System covering phonics, sight words, reading sentences, writing sentences, basic grammar and punctuation along with reading comprehension. Teacher will communicate with parent before the class and then adapt lessons accordingly. In general, Ms. Wendy will utilize proven phonics instruction with a variety of hands on tools such as letter tiles, phonics flashcards, sight word and word family flashcards, and age appropriate guided reading books along with books that instill the passion and enjoyment of reading.

Retelling parts of a story

Writing projects include brainstorming, structure modeling, dynamic adjectives game, utilizing pictures for ideas and content, and celebrating writing within a portfolio or binder.  


Using over 20+ years of experience, Ms. Wendy will utilize effective strategies to focus on effective language arts skills. 
General strategies for this age group consist of reading fluency, phonetic awareness, word recognition, comprehension skills and reading with expression. 
This is a great class for all readers, including beginning readers, struggling reading, or students who lack comprehension and reading fluency skills.
