** New to Outschool? Use code MelanieWia2020 to save $20! ** Welcome to this course on World War Two battles! In these ongoing classes, we will be covering famous and less-known battles of World War Two. Students will be engaged in lessons where they will learn about who was involved in the battle, what weapons were used, the outcomes and lasting impacts, and any other interesting details that make each battle unique! We will explore images, maps, documents, and first-hand accounts of what soldiers and civilians endured during these intense battles. Occasionally, we will also cover other World War Two topics such as 'Life of a Soldier', 'The Hitler Youth', and 'The Home Front'. This is an ongoing class and each individual class focuses on a specific battle or topic from World War Two. In each session, students will be provided with background information leading up to the battle, specific details about the battles, and be provided opportunities to ask questions and interact with their peers. These classes will be in the form of slideshow presentations, discussions, and are intended to be informative. Students of all knowledge levels are welcome to join! Weekly Schedule for Tuesday section: July 2nd: Operation Barbarossa July 9th: Attack on Pearl Harbor July 16th: Pacific Battles (Battle of Wake Island, Battle of Hong Kong) July 23rd: The Philippines Campaign July 30th: Life in Submarines August 6th: Pacific Battles (Battle of Singapore, Battle of Coral Sea, Battle of Midway) August 13th: Battle of Gazala and Battle of El Alamein August 20th: Dieppe Raid September 3rd: Battle of the Atlantic September 10th: Battle of Stalingrad September 17th: Pacific Battles (Battle of Milne Bay, Guadalcanal Bay) September 24th: Invasion of Sicily October 1st: Women in WWII October 8th: Operation Citadel October 15th: Invasion of Italy October 22nd: Pacific Battles (Battle of Tarawa and Battle of Kwajalein) October 29th: Battle of Ortona and Battle of Monte Cassino To be continued. *The course page will be updated with topics as we continue along. Students are welcome to join the course at any point and background information will be provided with each lesson to help students understand the current time in the war. We will be discussing the realities of war, however, images, videos, and content will be monitored to ensure it is age-appropriate and educational in the sense that it will help students better understand what happened.
