In this business class, students will take their first steps into becoming an entrepreneur, by learning how to start their own business, developing business skills, learning how to sell, executing business ideas and more! These class sessions are partially student focused, so some lessons, discussions, and activities will be geared towards the business that they are interested in. Example: Are students interested in self-publishing their own book? Students would learn about how, as a self-publisher, the author/artist/creator often has to act as their own agent, publicist, social media guru, publisher, etc. This class covers the best methods of self-promotion/marketing, from social networks (like Facebook and Twitter), crowd speaking platforms (like Thunderclap), crowdfunding platforms (like Kickstarter), to blogs, newsletters, advertisements, promotional giveaways, and in-person appearances. In the current market, any authors and other creators who don’t promote, don’t sell. Learn to reach out to expand yourself, your options, and connecting in a world where what you know can hugely boost what you do. This is a LIVE class and is NOT pre-recorded. Students are expected to communicate with the teacher. Communication, visuals, and hands-on instruction are things that are important in helping the students get a better understanding of the subject.

Designing your Business Name and Logo
✔️ Students work on their Business Name and how it would look
✔️ Students will learn what a Copyright is. And we will learn what a Trademark is. They will see some examples, including the things the instructor has copyrighted and trademarked.
✔️ Students will learn about the whole copyright/trademark craziness with DC and Marvel's "Captain Marvel", helping students understand why these Copyrights and Trademarks are so important!

Learning about Logos and Trademarks
✔️ Students will learn about logos. They will get to see example logos, included those designed by the instructor.
✔️ Talk about Trademarks and how logos are generally Trademarked.
✔️ Students watch short films about logos and trademarks.
✔️ Students practice designing logos on paper.
✔️ Students pick their logo design and try to work on simplifying the design.

Creating a Business Plan
Students watch video on making a business plan.
The teacher will discuss the different parts of the business plan with the students.
✔️ Direct Instruction: Students will follow along with the teacher as he puts together an example business plan.
With the teacher's example visible on the screen, the learners will use that as a guide for their own business plans.

受講に必要なもの
Paper and pencils (or pens) to write down their ideas and plans. They can also use a tablet (like an iPad) or a computer to type and/or draw their plans, if they want. I will occasionally post worksheets on the classroom page that can be printed out. While those are helpful, they are not required for this class. (For example, when we work on business plan, I will post a business plan template on the classroom page. They can print that out and use that for class, if they wish. If they don't print it out or don't have a printer, that's alright... During class I will be showing the template on my screen for them to look at. They can then write out their plans on paper, if they want.)

I am the owner of the small business company called "Raytoons Comics and Games". Through my businesses, I have self-published comic books, comic strips, animations, children's books, and graphic novels. I have distributed my products throughout the world (visit www.dir.raytoons.net to see distribution). For the comic books that I create, I print around 2000 to 4000 comic books per issue released. I use various printers in Canada, South Korea, and Hong Kong for my printing.
