This accelerated, flexible learning course is an action packed adventure to kickstart your child's reading and language journey. Backed by current Science of Reading research, learner's thrive in knowledge when they are taught solid, foundation phonemic awareness skills. This course discusses the basic phonemic sounds of the 26 letters. In this collaborative learning course, learner's will receive weekly instruction, each week focusing on different phonemic letter groups, and building on prior learned sounds. Each week, focusing on 1 new vowel and 4-5 new consonants. Following each instructional video, learners explore and complete the included weekly application activities including daily letter focuses. These include worksheets, and real-world projects that can be done from the comfort of your own home! Learner's are encouraged to share their daily adventures and completed work on our class discussion page for group encouragement and inspiration for others. Throughout the course, Ms. Whittne will share creative additional resources that are not required, but optional to extend your child's learning. Please check the course materials for the list of items to have nearby, ready to go for the instructional videos.

Ms. Whittne has been an educator for 6 years. Her background includes Title I and trauma-responsive schools. In 2023, she assisted in opening the first Montessori-inspired Play Cafe in the Northland Kansas City area. Ms. Whittne successfully has homeschooled her own pre-schooler who is now currently performing beyond proficient in 1st grade word studies.
Ms. Whittne has studied and instructed Science of Reading based curriculum to Kindergarteners in the Kansas City metro area, and has seen the many advantages this work holds for emerging learners. Throughout her years of experience, Ms. Whittne has studied and implemented many different curriculums to districts around Kansas City that is supported by the Science of Reading.
Ms. Whittne also holds training in Applied Educational Neuroscience (AEN). This work provides support and advocacy to a student's need of nervous system regulation in return of learning success. A large contribution of this work is the active positive learning environment between educator and student. This is a foundational reason behind the positive and mindful promise Ms. Whittne brings to her courses.
