Beginner - Advanced レベル向け
In this class, students will develop essential jazz guitar skills for performance and college-level audition prep. We’ll cover topics such as chord voicings, comping styles, improvisation, chord melody, and jazz standards. Each session will include live demonstration, interactive play-alongs, and guided discussion. Students will have frequent opportunities to ask questions, perform for feedback, and apply new concepts in real time. My teaching style is encouraging and adaptive, with a focus on developing both technique and musical confidence in a supportive environment.

Students will be able to comp through common jazz progressions (ii–V–I, jazz blues) using proper voice leading and rhythm.Students will develop soloing skills using scales, arpeggios, and melodic phrasing over standard jazz forms.

This class is best for students who have been playing guitar for at least 1–2 years and feel comfortable with basic chords and switching between them. Some experience with jazz, blues, or soloing is helpful but not required.

I’ve taught guitar, theory, and ensemble playing to middle and high school students since 2019, including as an instructor at Sonia Sotomayor Learning Academies. I specialize in jazz, blues, and songwriting, and have led student ensembles through full concert preparation and performance. I’ve also worked one-on-one with students preparing for auditions, helping them build confidence and technical fluency.
