This course is a part of the series called Italian Intermediates, intended to be after the series Let's Start Speaking Italian 1-8. However, your student can jump in at any level to learn the Italian grammar, vocabulary, and verbs we are focusing on for this course. This is more intermediate level focused. Week 1: We will learn how to compare in Italian (Superlativi, using più/more vs meno/less) page 356 Week 2-3: We will learn comparativi e superlativi irregolari (better, best; smaller, smallest; etc.) page 358 Week 4: We will learn i pronomi indefiniti (some, someone, something, everyone, etc.) page 377 Week 5: We will learn espressioni negative (no one, nothing, neither/nor, etc.) page 379 Week 6: We will learn il gerundio (gerund-- verbs ending in -ing) page 381 Week 7: We will do some comprensione of an Italian show or dialogue (or both depending on time). Each week, as long as time permits, we will also do mini-conversation skills. *Each time, we will review the information from the last lesson. *Students will be given a PDF, etc. (Homework is optional which includes reviewing what we learned.) *Subject to change.

The goal of this class is to help students get excited and feel confident in speaking some Italian through learning some key grammar and verb skills. We will go over gerunds, indefinite pronouns, negative expressions, comparing, and comprehension in order to get them interested in foreign languages for college or feeling more confident in upper Italian for those learning the language for fun, traveling to Italy, living in Italy, or understanding Italian relatives better.

I believe that taking foreign language classes opens the doors to many opportunities. In high school, I took Spanish, and at university, I learned up to the Intermediate level in Italian. I now give students the opportunity to learn the Italian language by making it fun and engaging through my teaching style, print-offs, and Quizlets games. I have been teaching beginner through intermediate Italian courses since 2019 involving basic conversation skills, grammar (present indicative, passato prossimo, conjugating verbs with pronouns, adjectives reflecting the correct the-- as there are 7 the's in Italian, and more), as well as vocabulary and fairytale reading classes to make the language to come to life in a fun way.
