After obtaining my B.A., I was determined to work with languages. In 2003, I joined an acclaimed center in Rabat, Morocco where I was trained to teach Arabic. I taught Modern Standard Arabic and Darija (Moroccan Arabic) to students from different parts of the world. After moving to California, I continued working as a teacher; I taught Arabic, French, and English as a second language for various institutions, including Berlitz, ABC Languages, and Fresno State University. In 2010, I received my Master's in Linguistics from San Francisco State University. Teaching Philosophy: When learning a language, I believe the target language ought to be used as much as possible. While using another language, such as English, may be necessary at first, the language teacher has to minimize its use as learning progresses. I believe that the most efficient way to learn a language is to focus on conversation. In my classes, I have always prioritized speaking to help the learner overcome the initial feeling of intimidation. Also, different people have different learning styles. As a teacher, I adapt my teaching style to the needs and learning styles of my students.
Students will need a piece of paper and pen or pencil during class.
Below are my general classroom rules and policies. These will also be explained to students when we begin class. -For everyone's safety, and to ensure an engaging experience while learning Arabic, students are expected to have working microphones and video for the entirety of this class. They should be positioned such that we can both hear and see them. -Students are asked not to use virtual backgrounds.
My entire career has focused on teaching languages and encouraging cross-cultural interaction and learning. After obtaining my undergraduate degree in English, I joined an acclaimed cultural center in Morocco, where I was trained to teach Arabic...
