In this introduction course for costume design for stage and film, students will learn about the overall process of making a costume from the page of a script to the stage or screen. We will look at why costume design matters and what a costume can tell us about a character at first glance. We will learn about design elements like color, texture, shape, balance, etc. and how these elements can be utilized to create effective costumes. We will then look at the steps of the design process in the subsequent lessons. The class is taught through lectures with slides and videos as well as homework/projects through the course.
