Prior experience is required. Students need to have played the saxophone for a minimum of 6 months and/or completed the Essential Elements Book 1. Completing the Essential Elements Book 2 during this class, we will average 2 pages per lesson and there will be required homework each class. Homework: #141, 143 pg 35 #163 Week 3- warm up Pg 35 #163, independently play #141 or #143. Page 30 & 31 discuss major and minor scales (additional scales on page 37) homework #148 and pg 35 #167 Week 4- warm up pg 35 #167, independently #148 work on page 40 to play as an accompaniment (if you have the book with CD). Homework: practice pages 38 and 39 and you work on individual technique and skill building.
I have 30+ years experience playing saxophone. I have been in concert band, marching band and jazz bands. I currently play in the orchestra at my church, and have done so for the past 11 years. I have been giving lessons on Outschool since August 2020, and enjoy watching the excitement with each new learner as he/she begins on this incredible musical journey!
