Prior experience is required. Students need to have played the saxophone for a minimum of 6 months and/or completed the Essential Elements Book 1. Beginning in the Essential Elements Book 2, we will be covering an average of 2 pages per lesson and there will be required homework each class. I will begin each lesson with review of what was taught the previous week and expect students to demonstrate an understanding of the assigned and practiced exercise(s). Homework: exercise #94, #95 and try 96 Week 2- practice #94 as a group, then #95 independently. Pg 20 & 21 introduce 6/8 time signature. Homework: exercise #100 and #106 Week 3- play 106 as a group, then #100 independently. Pg 22 & 23 introduce chromatic scale, review staccatos and crescendos Homework: #114 & 115 Week 4- play 114 as a group, then #115 independently. Pg 24 & 25 introduce triplets, high C# and high D. I have 30+ years experience playing saxophone. I have been in concert band, marching band and jazz bands. I currently play in the orchestra at my church, and have done so for the past 11 years. I have been giving lessons on Outschool since August 2020, and enjoy watching the excitement with each new learner as he/she begins on this incredible musical journey!
