宿題:
週あたり 1-2 時間. Every week, students will be assigned an Excel project to work on. They will have access to tutorial videos to teach them the necessary skills to complete the project. However, the videos will not provide a step-by-step guide for the project. On average, the projects will take about 1-3 hours per week to complete. If students have any questions, they can always email me, and I will happily answer them or direct them to a helpful resource.
テスト
Each project is an opportunity for students to showcase their skills and creativity. They will have one week to work on each project, and once it's done, email it to me for review. My feedback will be detailed and constructive, highlighting areas where they excelled and offering suggestions for improvement. If a parent requests, I will grade each project on a 50-point scale and provide a letter grade at the end of the four weeks.

How is this class Taught?
This is a project-based learning class.
On the first day of class:
•	Provide all 4 projects we will work on in class
•	Show the class where to find all the tutorial videos needed for class
Each week we will meet online for about 20 minutes. During our meeting, I will:
•	Show and explain the week’s project
•	Review the written project requirements
•	Show where to find all the resource tutorial videos
•	Explain anything that might challenge students on the project
•	Answer all student’s questions
Students will be given a week to complete the project and are welcome to email me if they have any questions. The completed project must be submitted to me at least one day before our next meeting. After reviewing the project, I will provide constructive feedback to encourage the students.

Why I do not show how to do the projects step-by-step?
Empowering students with the confidence to tackle any Excel-related problem is crucial. By presenting them with Excel tasks, students can develop their Excel skills and confidence and other important skills such as research, critical thinking, and problem-solving, which are helpful in both academic and real-life settings. Simply memorizing information is not an effective way to learn Excel or most other subjects. Instead, students should focus on learning how to locate and process information in order to create practical solutions.

Why do I have students add something extra to each project?
More than 1 billion people worldwide use a Microsoft Office product. Although many can discover online solutions for MS Office, creativity is what sets individuals apart. In today's world, being able to think beyond the conventional and develop innovative solutions is what separates one from the crowd.

Are there prerequisites?
This is an intermediate Excel class. Before starting class, students should know how to add data to a worksheet, do simple formulas (add, subtract, multiply), for format cells.

I have been a college professor for over 20 years, teaching more than 130 computer classes and over 3,000 students.

My teaching experience gave me the knowledge and foresight to create a project-based learning approach for my own children while I homeschooled them for 15 years. My homeschool curriculum focused on research, critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity over school subjects.

Currently, I continue to work as a college professor while also assisting homeschool families. My specialization is in project-based learning, teaching essential skills through math, and providing guidance to families with profoundly gifted students. I hold a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Computer Information Systems.
