In this four-week FLEX course, students will learn how to make traditional boba drinks, also known as Bubble Tea, and popping boba drinks and desserts! Also, students will learn to take Instagram-worthy photos with their devices.  Each class will feature a different drink and/ or dessert and photography tip to enhance students' ability to not only make delicious drinks and desserts but to also make a feast for the eyes. As a reminder, this is a FLEX course, and therefore students are able to work at their own pace and there are no live classes.  They can make their drinks when it fits their schedule.  Even though there are no live classes, I will be very engaged with the students through the classroom platform.  At the beginning of each week I will post our necessary ingredients, a printable recipe (students can remake these drinks and desserts as much as they want), a video of how to make at least 1-3 drinks (sometimes students can pick their own variation or make all of them!), a video over a photography tip, and a photography challenge for the week.   After making their weekly drink and/ or desserts, students will be challenged with creating an Instagram-worthy photo and post it to the classroom.  Our classmates and I will make comments on one another's photos, offering accolades and constructive criticism.  

Week 1: I will introduce the expectations and safety procedures for the course. We will learn to make traditional boba balls. Then we will learn to make a traditional boba black tea and a matcha boba tea with our traditional boba balls. Feel free to make one or both of these teas in week one. 

Week 2: We will learn to make popping boba with molecular gastronomy! We will make a mango popping boba. We will then make a mango boba tea with our popping boba. 

Week 3: We will learn to make a watermelon slushy with traditional boba balls. We will also make a strawberry - mango smoothie with traditional boba balls. Make one or both of these teas in week three.

Week 4: We will learn to make a homemade pineapple ice cream and top it off with your choice of pineapple or coconut bursting boba or both!

Students will be utilizing a blender, the stove, and the freezer during this course. Please be nearby in the event your student needs assistance. I recommend students print out their recipes in advance and have their materials gathered before they begin. In that way, students don't feel flustered and accidentally hurt themselves.

I am a self-proclaimed foodie and love the challenge of the next nearly unattainable dish.  I sell baked goods at my local Farmer's Market and also create celebration cakes for clients.   I am in the process of building a food truck as well.  While not cooking, I am teaching either at Outschool or at my in-person school.
