Students will make sure all supplies that are needed are within their reach.  Students will follow the step by step demonstration shown by the teacher and raise their hand to ask for help or a question.  The teacher will check in with the students after each step to make sure no one gets left behind.  Students will follow the teacher's demonstration of using a plastic fork to dip into the paint and print their ostrich's face and neck.  Students will follow the teacher's demonstration of coloring and cutting two eyes and a beak for their ostrich.  Students will listen to the story "I Want an Ostrich" by Sonya Annita Song, while their ostrich painting dries.
Students will follow the teacher's demonstration of cutting out the eyes and mouth of their ostrich and gluing them to their ostrich's face.  We will all share our finished work with each other at the end of class!

- 2 Pieces of White paper (can be printer paper, construction paper or sketch paper)
- 1 Plastic Fork
-Red, Yellow, and Blue Paint (Acrylic, Tempera, or Poster)
-Orange Crayon
-Pencil
-Eraser
-Scissors
-Glue Stick
-Cup of Water to clean off fork between colors
-Paper towel to dry fork between colors
-Foil, Wax Paper, or Paper Plate to place the paint on
- Newspaper or a covering to protect work surface.

I am a certified K-12 Art Educator in Pennsylvania.  I taught for 14 years in the Pennsylvania public schools and am currently a substitute teacher in the Pennsylvania public schools.  I enjoy teaching both Elementary and High School Art.  I love to share my knowledge of different mediums with my students and see their awe and wonder when their pencil (or brush) touches the paper.  I teach a variety of mediums and styles of Art but my favorites are drawing, ceramics and printmaking.  I enjoy including literature and Art History into my lessons.  I am a Mom to a 10 year old little girl who is creative and loves the arts too!
