I have been a high school English teacher for ten years, working in both the United States and China. I have taught both AP English Language and Composition and AP English Literature and Composition. I have worked in education for nearly 20 years, including 15 years coaching speech and debate.  I specialize in writing instruction and literary analysis.

A small amount of homework will be expected.  Any work unfinished in class will need to be completed at home. This should be a minimal amount of work, if there is any at all.  
In addition to these simple tasks, students will be required to read one graphic novel, "The Killing Joke," or watch the video comic version available online.

Major Homework/Project: It is the goal of the course for students to create an original villain and tell their story. All assignments in class are steered towards that focus. Based on the work done in class, students will be expected to complete one of a couple projects that represents their villain and tells their story. Specific instructions will be provided during week 4.
