Looking for a fun,  high interest, and engaging learning group for your 6th grader? This course is individualized so each and every student is working on their own plan while still being able to learn with their peers. For over 10 years we have worked with homeschoolers in a microschool co-op Ms. Iman started. Our Kind Curriculum©️ is engaging, project based, and sparks the wonder in our students. 

Our curriculum covers the following:

During this class students will be able to build connections and friendships with peers while having fun learning all the skills they need to know before 7th Grade.   Our courses are short and done with very small groups of learners so students can really have the chance to have the attention of the teacher and connect with other students. 

Each class covers the following

Day 1: Math: 30 minutes of group fluency, minilessons, and Word Problems, 20 minutes of independent lessons where students work through fluency, concept development, and independent practice at their own pace with precise and supportive digital and teacher feedback.

Topic A Reasoning to Find Area
Lesson 1 Explore the meaning of area.
Lesson 2 Decompose and compose shapes to find area.
Topic B Parallelograms
Lesson 5 Understand the terms base and height and their relationship to the area of a parallelogram.
Lesson 6 Use the formula for area to find the area of any parallelogram.
Topic C Triangles
Lesson 7 Explain the relationship between a pair of identical triangles and a parallelogram.
Lesson 9 Explain how to use a formula to find the area of a triangle.
Lesson 10 Identify a base and corresponding height of a triangle.
Topic E Surface Area
Lesson 13 Investigate different polyhedra and their nets.
Lesson 14 Use nets to find surface area of polyhedra.
Lesson 15 Draw an accurate net of a polyhedron and use it to the calculate the surface area
Topic F Squares and Cubes
Lesson 17 Use exponents to express the area of a square and volume of a cube.
Lesson 18 Express the surface area and volume of a cube in different ways given a side length.
Topic G Let’s Put It to Work
Lesson 19 Apply strategies and formulas for finding area of polygons to find surface area.
Topic A What Are Ratios?
Lesson 2 Draw a diagram that represents a ratio and explain what the diagram means.
Topic B Equivalent Ratios
Lesson 3 Use recipes to understand equivalent ratios and represent multiple batches of a recipe with a diagram.
Lesson 4 Use color mixtures to explain equivalent ratios.
Topic C Representing Equivalent Ratios
Lesson 6 Use double number line diagrams to represent equivalent ratios.
Lesson 7 Use double number lines to find equivalent ratios.
Lesson 8 Use equivalent ratios to find unit prices.
Lesson 10 Use equivalent ratios to see if situations happen at the same rate.
Topic D Solving Ratio and Rate Problems
Lesson 11 Use tables to find equivalent ratios.
Lesson 12 Solve equivalent ratio problems by finding the rate per 1 in a table.
Lesson 14 Solve word problems involving equivalent ratios.
Topic E Part-Part-Whole Ratios
Lesson 15 Create tape diagrams to solve problems involving a ratio and a total amount.
Lesson 16 Apply number lines, tables, and tape diagrams to solve problems about ratios.

Lesson 1 Reason about “rate per 1” to solve problems.

Lesson 4 Use double number lines, tables, and thinking about “how much for 1” to convert measurement units.

Lesson 10 Understand percentages as rates per 100.
Lesson 14 Use a double number line diagram to solve percentage problems.

I pride myself on being a creative, engaging, and Kind teacher as do all of our guides at Kind Academy. We value student opinions and like them to have a chance to interact with each other. Our teachers use hands-on props, videos, songs, and stories to engage with learners.
