週1時間. Homework is only given if activities that are guided are not finished in class: This includes research, writing, etc. Students are encouraged to re-watch the recordings to aid with any possible homework.

This course will have a total of 5 essays that will be in the portfolio centered around research topics they would like to focus on in the overarching subject. I will give feedback on each essay after peer review. Grades are provided on request.

In this class we cover researching and essays on selected topics in History. This class will be amazing for students who like to self direct their own research to discover more. 

Our themes are:

Plague Doctors and The Black Death  
Castles of the Middle Ages
Key Battles of the Hundred Years' War
Weapons of the Middle Ages
Trade Goods and Routes in the Middle Ages

Each class will be broken down with a centralized focus to ensure we cover each essay thoroughly. It allows for time to ensure students can complete tasks with minimal homework. 

This class is a mix of lecture and guided practice with encouragement to utilize the tools they have available to them in research as it pertains to Historical Topics. 

I teach in a humanistic comprehensive approach. I want my students to show me that they have a full understanding of expectations in real time. I regularly check in and ask them to explain to me what they see in their own perspectives. I encourage discussions, questions, thought processes. I want them to talk me through their process, so I can aid in the moment.

Plague Doctors and The Black Death
 In this lesson we will explore what an essay should look like, examples of research essays in history, and how to determine if a source is a primary or secondary. We will review Fact versus Opinion as it pertains to subjective language and how to identify a hypothesis or thesis our sources. 

Students will be introduced to the time periods and how to answer the questions Who, What, When, Where, Why, How through a historical lens.

Plague Doctors and The Black Death
 In this lesson we will make a hypothesis or question to explore then begin researching and narrowing the scope of our essays. We will review primary versus secondary sources and how to cite them. Students will send me their sources at the end of the class to not loose them. 

Students will continue on with our History discussions and answer the questions Who, What, When, Where, Why, How as it pertains to their hypothesis.

 In this lesson we will begin to map out our essay utilizing our notes and sources. We will go over bubble maps and how they can keep our essays together. We will revisit our research and thesis to make sure it all is all fluid.

 In this lesson we will draft our First Draft. Essays should be between 800-1000 words in length, contain cited primary and secondary sources. - Unless specified first drafts must be hand written -

🔰 Experience: 
I often took the lead in helping my siblings and peers with their school work. Thinking back, this is likely the foundation of my desire to pursue education.  In high school, you could often catch me tutoring History and English. If I found someone struggling with concepts, comprehension, or timelines, I would jump at the opportunity to help.  

In 2007, I started my undergraduate studies at Georgia Southern University. During my undergraduate tenure, I became a hired tutor through my alma mater for English, Philosophy, and History with a focus on Pre-K through College curriculum.  In 2017 I started my journey remote teaching English as a Second Language full time to children and adults all over the world. This led me on a path of teaching History, Social Studies, Novel Studies, English Language Arts, and English as a Foreign Language.
