In the Haunted House Design Challenge, students will learn how to create their own spooky and imaginative haunted houses. We’ll cover topics such as design principles, architectural elements, and creative detailing to make their haunted houses both eerie and unique. The class is structured with a brief introduction to design concepts, followed by interactive activities where students plan, sketch, and build their haunted houses using various materials. I will teach through engaging demonstrations, hands-on crafting, and providing creative prompts to inspire students. Students are encouraged to get creative. Any safe and school-appropriate item can be used to build their haunted house. No specific pattern will be followed as this is a self-discovery activity. Some supplies ideas include: cardstock/paper, markers/colored pencils/crayons, scissors, glue or glue sticks (marshmallows may also be a good adhesive), tape, cardboard boxes, pipe cleaners, popsicle sticks, googly eyes, stickers, button balls, tissue paper, and small lights.
