手工芸スキル: 初心者用かぎ針編みのスカーフ、帽子、ミトンセット

In keeping with Miss Mason's philosophy for handicrafts, my goal with teaching this beginner crochet class is to provide students with patience and gentle instruction, allowing them ample time to learn proper technique, so they can create beautiful work that they can be proud of. The foundational techniques and stitches they will learn in this class will set them up with everything they need to grow their crochet skills for years to come. 

Throughout the 6 weeks of this course, they will create their own set of winter gear, including a scarf, hat, and mittens. These projects will further their understanding of the foundational lessons they learn and build their skills as they receive plenty of practice through completing their projects.

We will begin with the simplest project, the scarf, in which they will learn and practice counting stitches, making chains, weaving ends, and using single, double, and half-double crochet stitches. 

Our next project, the hat, will provide more practice with the previously learned skills and will introduce the new skills of stitching into the back of a stitch, connecting ends, and gathering/cinching.

Our final and most complex project will be a pair of mittens. This project will further improve their previously learned skills and introduce the new skills of adding stitches into the side of rows, creating clusters, increasing and decreasing stitches, and closing corners.

Students will need 3 skeins of coordinating yarn, crochet hook, yarn needle, stitch markers, and a fabric measuring tape. See the supply list for additional details.
