このクラスで学べること
This class is ideal for the beginning reader and is taught at an ending Kindergarten/Beginning First grade level. We will follow a guided reading model. Each week, we will read a different level C reader. We will work on reading strategies, decoding words, and reading comprehension. I do ask that parents purchase a set of level C readers (link is below in the supply list), as I feel nothing can compare to having a real book in your hands. Level C books have words with easy spelling patterns, a predictable sentence pattern with some variation, and illustrations that match the text. They typically have 2-6 lines of text per page. These books are available for a very reasonable price. Other skills include, but are not limited to: digraphs and blends, sight words, and short and long vowels. Prior knowledge: Can identify most letters and sounds, able to read level A and B readers with ease. Level A and B books have 1-2 lines of text and follow a predictable pattern.
