このクラスで学べること

Learn what it was like to frow up on the frontier of Kentucky, Indiana, and Illinois in the early 1800s. We will learn were you would live, what kind of home you would live in, what the furniture might look like, what kind of clothes you would wear, what food you would eat, what kind of work you might do, and how you would earn money. Students will also learn what kind of school you would go to, what the school would look like, what you might learn in school, how boys and girls were taught different things, and what the teachers might be like. We will also discuss how President Abraham Lincoln grew up in these exact locations and what his life was like.

This class will meet for 90 minutes one time. Children will have a 5-minute break to use the restroom, get a drink and or snack, or just to stretch their legs. The class will be presented in a storytelling manner with an emphasis on imagining that you are a child on the Kentucky frontier in the early 1800s. Children will have a chance to ask questions and are encouraged to share their thoughts and opinions throughout the class.

教師の専門知識と資格
Hi, I'm April Rogers. I'm a proud single mom to an amazing son who is off to college this year. When I'm not cheering him on, I love to spend my hours reading and knitting with my five cats by my side. My academic pursuits brought me from the University of Maryland where I earned my Bachelor's of Arts in History with a minor in Humanities and Women's Studies, to getting my Master of Arts in History at Maryland as well. Over the last twenty years, teaching history has been one of my greatest joys - particularly focusing on Early American history between colonial times and the early 1900s. In the past six years, I've been teaching completely online. In addition, I host a podcast called "The Lives of Women in History". With knowledge and passion for all things Wild West and documenting women's stories, it's been an absolute pleasure to bring empowering stories from female historical figures into the spotlight.
