Welcome to "Grammar: Exploring Language Basics (Part 2 of 4)" where learners will continue their exciting journey into the world of grammar! 

In this course, learners will continue with their exploration of the  fundamental building blocks of language. Through interactive lessons and hands-on activities, they'll learn about different types of sentences commonly used in writing, the purpose of conjunctions and prepositions and how they are used, and how to skillfully use comparative and superlative adjectives to compare and describe one object in relation to another. By the end of this course, learners will have laid a strong foundation for further language exploration, setting the stage for confident communication and writing skills. ****Class Structure***
This course follows the "I do, We do, You do" method of instruction to scaffold learning as we are introduced to new grammar concepts. Each lesson will begin with a warm up or review followed by direct instruction in the grammar concept of the day and time for independent practice. Learners will have time throughout class to craft their own sentences and apply what they have learned.

        Unit Descriptions
********************************

Unit 1: Types of Sentences
In this unit, learners will be introduced to four types of sentences (declarative, interrogative, imperative, and exclamatory). We will learn when and how each type of sentence is used as well as the appropriate punctuation marks to end each sentences. 

Unit 2: Conjunctions and Prepositions
This unit will serve as an introduction to conjunctions and prepositions. Specifically we will be practicing with three conjunctions (and, but, and or) and learning how to use them to connect words and phrases in our speaking and writing. Our study of prepositions will help learners to understand how words such as in, on, under, over, and between help us to describe location and time. 

Unit 3: Sentence Structure
In this unit, learners will begin learn how to identify and write simple, compound, and complex sentences. Learners will learn about conjunctions and practice using them to turn simple sentences into compound sentences. 

Unit 4: Possessive Nouns
This unit will serve as an introduction to possessive nouns. Learners will practice forming possessive nouns and using them in sentences. 

Unit 5: Possessive Adjectives
In this unit, learners will be introduced to singular and plural possessive adjectives. We use singular and plural possessive adjectives to indicate ownership.

Unit 6: Let's Review
To close out this course learners will have the opportunity to review and reinforce the concepts they've learned thus far.
