このクラスで学べること

Students will follow along as we read "Giraffes Can't Dance" by Giles Andreae. This rhyming story tells the tale of Gerald, a clumsy giraffe who just can't find his rhythm. Throughout the book, different styles of dance and music are explored, as Gerald yearns to find a way to dance along. This story teaches lessons of inclusivity, confidence, and embracing all of the things that make us unique. After the story, students will be led in a creative movement activity. This is a great class for little learners who love story time, but also need to let loose after sitting still. Make sure there is enough room to safely move to music after we finish the book. All movement will be light and fun, no stretching required.

プロフィール
教師の専門知識と資格
I am a teaching artist who has worked with theatre students from ages 3-18 throughout New York City, Philadelphia, and Central Pennsylvania for the last 15 years. Classes I teach include musical theatre, audition technique, acting, improv, storytelling, character development, voice and speech, script analysis, and theatre production. Part of my work included leading workshops with parents called "Bringing Literature to Life" to promote literacy and spark interest in storytelling. I have also worked as a pre-school teacher for about 10 years, specializing in promoting early literacy, exploring storytelling, dramatic play, and arts and crafts.

I hold a B.A. in Theatre from Wagner College, NY, member of the Honors Program, graduated Magna cum laude. I completed a professional apprenticeship in Theatre Education at the Walnut Street Theatre in Philadelphia in 2007. I participated in teaching artist training sessions with the Roundabout Theatre Company and Queens Theatre In The Park in New York City. I attended several professional development workshops/seminars through the Stockton Rush Bartol Foundation in Philadelphia, PA

In addition to my theatre education background, I am a proud member of Actor's Equity and have performed regionally at the Walnut Street Theatre, Surflight Theatre, Snug Harbor Cultural Center, and was selected by New York casting director Bernie Telsey to sing live on national television as a part of CBS The Early Show's "My Broadway Debut" competition.
