Welcome to Waldorfunn, where I teach children mathematics using a Waldorf-inspired philosophy. In this specific class, we will combine geometry drawing with algebra calculations. We will create an impressive geometrical drawing in each class and apply a mathematical formula to practice calculation. We will practice the fundamentals of algebra and push forward more advanced concepts. Please scroll down for a breakdown of the class syllabus. The content does not build up... children can join anytime. My style of teaching is restful, loving, and fascinating. Igniting the child's imagination and interest is critical to mathematical success and numerical mastery. As a Waldorf-inspired teacher, I nurture and engage each child through a curriculum and methodology that integrates academics and the arts. I aim to engage the child's head, heart, and hands—or thinking, feeling, and willingness—through the calming benefits of creative art and fascinating arithmetic facts. An impressive and artful drawing engages the child's curiosity and enthusiasm. Geometry drawings also help the child retain the teaching and easily recall the necessary notions. Geometry drawing helps the child to focus, relax, and enjoy math. All that in a simple, fulfilling, and joyful class. At Waldorf-inspired tutoring classes, we begin with a deep breath and say a verse to set ourselves up for a beautiful learning experience. Similarly, each class ends with a personal share-and-tell of our drawings and a closing farewell goodbye. I am sincerely looking forward to meeting you and your child. I guarantee high-quality classes; I pour my heart into each class and cultivate a loving relationship with each student. I love math, I love teaching, and children feel it! ---------------------------------- Class Syllabus *Wednesday's Afternoon classes start the week of September 1 * Wednesday's morning classes will start the week of October 1 * Friday's classes will start the week of October 1 ---> Circles and Ellipses Week 1 Algebra fundamentals. We are making note cards for inversions of mathematical notations and order of operation. These will become our reference tools for solving equations. We will explore the mystery of the disappearing multiplication notation within algebraic formulas. What is going on with division notation? Oh, that is a lot! With our math compass, we will relax and draw incredible mandalas-like circles. Week 2 Circumference of a circle and inversing formulas to isolate unknown variables. We will use our card of mathematical notations inversion. We will also examine the commutative rule. Week 3 We will learn the area of a circle formula and apply the order of operation to solve the equation. We will Draw another unique concentric geometrical formation. Week 4 Area of ellipses and understanding the variation from the circle's area formula. A second look at the importance of the order of operation in algebra. We will enjoy drawing overlapping circles and creating mandala-like elliptical geometry drawings. Week 5 Now that we are comfortable with our algebraic circle formulas, let's try to understand Pi. What is Pi? Where does it arise from? Why is it a constant? Is it because it is a ratio? No matter how big or small a circle is, Pi remains constant. Note: The inversing method for solving algebraic formulas is the core of algebra knowledge. The child is not expected to learn this problematic knowledge all in one class; we will work on this skill separately in each class. It is to be expected that the child will not understand the first time. That is ok. The joy of drawing should carry the child through enthusiasm and curiosity and forge the will to work through the difficulties of algebra. ---> Squares and Rectangles Week 6 We will learn to draw a perfect square from a circle base with our compass, an exquisite experience. We will also learn how to find a square's area. From this, we will develop a profound understanding of square numbers and the root of a number concept. Week 7 Playing with rectangle's perimeter and area formulas deepens our problem-solving skills by reminding us of the concept of inversion when solving formulas. We will learn the square's area formulas. We will deepen the concept of square numbers. We will draw concentric squares with perfect square numbers. Week 8 What about the captivating world of golden rectangles, the magic of Fibonacci numbers, and the intriguing ratios they form? Week 9 What is a ratio again? This is an abstract concept that can be hard to understand. Can you see the relationship between numbers? To unravel the mystery of ratio, we will create a Fibonacci spiral within rectangles. ---> All About Triangles Week 10 With our math compass, we will draw equilateral triangles out of a circle base. We will play with triangles' ecstatic fractalization and superpositions. We will dive into algebraic formulas to find a triangle's area. What is the formula for finding a triangle's area? Week 11 Moving triangles of all names. Drawing triangles with a square. Learning why the formulas work for all types of triangles. Week 12 We will also learn about angles and how to bisect angles. All triangles have a 180-degree angle sum but different names. We will discover various triangles through an ecstatic coordinate grid. Week 13 We will learn the Pythagorean theorem and its connection to the notion of squares. We will sketch another incredible mathematical drawing after understanding this theorem and its application. ---> Combining Circles, Triangles, and Rectangles. Week 14 We will see that all parallelograms are variations of a combination of squares and triangles, and therefore, the algebra formulas follow the same recognitions. We will play and review algebra formulas! Week 15 We will create more geometrical drawings with circles, squares, and triangles. Can all forms be encompassed in a circle? We will remember all we learned in algebra fundamentals and realize how confident we are now.

I am deeply invested in anthroposophy, and I acquired the foundational knowledge and the practical art skills of Waldorf Education.
Mathematics is my passion, and I specialize in Classical Greek geometry and arithmetic.
I crafted my math classes to trigger the genius in each student.
I speak four languages fluently.
I also teach reading and spelling classes at the elementary level because I believe in the power of classical literature. I crafted these classes for children to fall in love with writing with perfect spelling.
Like in Math, if a class is meaningful and emotionally captivating, "Difficult" academics become satisfying!
I strive to create those "AHH" moments in children...they are the delights of academic work!
The purpose of my educational classes is to inspire students.
I know how important this is for children and their future academic life.
I have a Canadian Advanced Degree in the Natural Science of Silviculture and Forest Management.
I have taught Waldorf Waldorf-inspired curriculum for my four delightful daughters for over five years.
