Love everything Geology? Want to learn about the natural features of each state and understand how they were created? You came to the right place! In this weekly meeting, we will explore the 50 states focusing on one at a time to discover the major geologic features and processes in the area. Learn about the geologic province the state is in, the geologic history, major features related to landforms or special features such as geysers and volcanoes, where the processes occurred in geologic time, and the renewable and non-renewable resources in each location. We will examine some of the geologic maps that are available for each state to understand the rock types and stratigraphy that is present. Students will learn geologic vocabulary to enhance their understanding of the processes that are taking place and that have taken place through geologic time. We will begin our journey with some basic principles that will allow students to develop their skills as we progress. Please see the intended class meetings below. Note that some meetings may be subject to change if students are enjoying a topic or if they need more time on a topic.
