フルカリキュラム ELA 9年生と10年生向けノンフィクション読書とエッセイライティング

In this self-paced, 8-week course, students will strengthen their reading comprehension and writing skills at a 9th & 10th-grade level. This class provides full curriculum for one semester of a 9th or 10th-grade language arts class. 

R E A D I N G  O V E R V I E W: 

Students will read two informational texts in this class: “Disneyland's Glitch-Filled Opening Day” by History.com and NASA's Plan for Sustained Lunar Development. Reading skills taught in this class include: 

📚 Examining text features
📚 Determining an author’s point of view 
📚 Referring to the text when answering questions
📚 Using context clues to determine the meaning of new words
📚 Writing an objective summary 

W R I T I N G  O V E R V I E W: 

Students will write two essays in this class: an expository essay that pairs with “Disneyland's Glitch-Filled Opening Day” and a persuasive essay that pairs with NASA's Plan for Sustained Lunar Development. Students will be given step-by-step instructions along with graphic organizers that will help them master the essay writing process. Writing skills taught in this class include: 

🧾 Prewriting an essay by brainstorming potential topics and ideas
🧾 Drafting an essay by including specific support 
🧾 Revising an essay to flow effortlessly while being organized and coherent
🧾 Editing an essay for grammar and spelling mistakes
