Bonjour! Welcome to French 101. In this course, we will begin to build a foundational knowledge in the skills required to speak, read, and write in the French language. We will also discuss French culture and create an understanding of what life looks like in France. This course will cover foundational vocabulary, sentence building, pronouns, verbs, numbers, and common phrases. We will also briefly discuss food, activities, geography, and other cultural aspects of France. Students should have learned 150 basic vocabulary terms by the end of the course. The weekly breakdown will be as follows:

Week 1: Learn basic greetings and farewells, common pronouns and verbs in the present tense, and Sections 1-3 of our vocabulary terms. Learn how to count 1-100 and introduce adjectives in feminine/masculine versions.
Week 2: Learn common phrases often used in conversations, piecing together pronouns and verbs in order to create basic sentences, verb conjugation of -er verbs, and Sections 4-6 of our vocabulary terms. We will also learn how to label the basics of a map of France.
Week 3: Learn how to construct basic paragraphs and practice oral communication in complete sentences, discuss French culture, food, and activities, Sections 10-12 of our vocabulary terms, and final evaluation.
