週1時間. Homework tasks will be set each week. Students will also complete Projects on topics of their own choice. The homework, including work on Projects, will take about 60 minutes each week.

Verbal feedback is given to students in class. Brief written feedback will be given after class if needed. Projects will be assessed verbally and written feedback will be given. Assessments will be provided according to Prisma's own system.

In Cycle 3 we will build on the basic words and phrases students learned in Cycle 1 and Cycle 2. We work through a range of conversations that will enable you to communicate with sympathetic native French speakers and expand our vocabulary. 
I will (hopefully) be in France for some of this Cycle, so you will have the opportunity to see round a French town.
At the end of the Cycle students will be assessed for their French 1 accreditation, which is your opportunity to show how much you have learned this year!

Week 1.
Bonjour. Qu’est-ce que tu as fait pendant les vacances?
Model simple replies and comments, using the passé composé.
Ma famille – describe yourself and your family, including hair and eye colours. Pets can be included!
Grammar point: Revise the information about genders, so that we can use adjectives correctly.
Homework: Write a description of your family and your 2 closest friends. You will describe at least 1 of these people to the class next week.

Week 2.
Review to ‘tu’ and ‘vous’ forms of address.
Introductions and conversations; students will introduce their person to the class. One other student will then have a brief conversation with your person, using the appropriate ‘tu’ or ‘vous’ form of address. The 2 people will order drinks and a snack in the café.
Homework. 
Chose a famous French speaking person to do research on over the next few weeks for your Project.

Week 3.
Qu'est-ce que tu as fait pendant les vacances?
Numbers.
Counting 0-100.
Telling people your age.
Telling the time in French (24 hour clock).
Combien de joueurs dans l'équipe de....(How many players in various sports teams).
Homework:
Students start to write sentences about their famous French person, using the Basic Q&A worksheet.

Week 4.
Students present their research so far.
Qu’est-ce que tu voudrais faire dans la vie?
What jobs and professions interest you? What do people in your families do? 
Homework: Answer the Basic Q&A as a person who does the job your would like to do. 

Week 5.
Topic. Paris Olympic Games 2024. 
I will provide links information about the Paris Olympics in French. We will learn the vocabulary for various sports. 
We will talk about the sports that we like doing and the sports we like watching. How do we feel about various sports?
Homework: the students will find out more about one French speaking sportsman or one French speaking sportswoman. They will introduce them and their sports to us in class next week.

Week 6.
Topic. Sports. Introduce the class to your chosen French speaking sports person, if not done last week. Explain about their sport.
Take your French speaking sports person to a restaurant. What will they order to eat and drink?
Places in a French town. I will introduce the vocabulary,
Homework: Continue working on your Project.

Week 7.
Topic: Places in a French town. I should be in France at this time. Weather permitting, I will take the class on a Walkabout tour of a French town. We will also do some basic directions.
Homework: Write a short email to your French penpal about the town you saw in today's class OR write a short email to your best friend (in English) about the town you saw today. What things are are the same/different from your home town?

Week 8.
Topic: Sports and the Olympic Games.
Introduce your sports person from your Francophone country to the class.
Where are various sports played?
How many people are there in each team?
What equipment is needed to play the sport?
Have you ever played the sport? Would you like to play the sport? Do you watch the sport?
Homework: Complete your project for Week 10.

Week 9.
1:1 session with students. Conversations to check levels.
Students can work on their Projects when they are not in the 1:1 session.
Homework: Finish Projects for next week.                                                                                                                       

Week 10.
Students present their Projects.
End of term quiz.
Games if time.

Students will learn how to communicate with native French speakers. They will be able to talk about themselves, find their way round places in French speaking areas, buy food, drink and other items and complete other tasks. They will be able to understand native French speakers speaking at a steady pace.
They will learn how to read signs, menus and simple printed information.
Students will also learn how to complete short writing tasks, such as completing forms and writing postcards,
Students will also learn about French and francophone culture, including countries around the world where French is one of the official languages.
This Cycle students will learn about the various Olympic Sports that will take place in Paris.

I will provided worksheets for most classes, as required, and in advance, so that the students have them for reference. 
A bilingual dictionary, or access to an online dictionary, will be helpful.
Students are welcome to use Duolingo or similar language learning apps in their own time.

I am a French graduate and qualified teacher (B.A. Honours in French and English, PGCE in Secondary French and Elementary school subjects with French). I have lived and worked in France and have taught French at all levels of school (Elementary to High School, including exam classes). 
I have current experience of teaching French 1 and French 2 online with Outschool. I have also lived and worked in France and the French speaking part of Belgium. I spend 2-3 months at our holiday home in France each year to maintain my language skills.
